I’ve encountered violence as a trans man both before and after admitting to the world that I was trans. It’s very common for us to have these experiences throughout our lives. As a people, due to the belief that we’re all pedophiles, we encounter a lot of murders that go virtually uninvestigated by police locally. It’s actually quite legal to murder us under a legal precedent locally called “trans panic”. If I scared a woman by doing what the previous local governor required and went into the women’s restroom despite looking like a man because my birth certificate says “female”, and she decided to shoot and kill me, she could go to court and claim it was legal to kill me because of “trans panic”. This isn’t a matter of comfort. It’s often a matter of life and death for us.
It is possible for a trans man to have a baby because not all of us medically transition. It is possible to look indistinguishably like a man without Testosterone or surgery; trans men have been doing this throughout history. It’s also possible to accidentally get pregnant during some parts of the medical transitioning process, leaving us with difficult choices to make. Some of us ultimately decide we want to have babies (or that we don’t believe in abortion) and decide to temporarily or permanently stop medically transitioning so that we can do so. I have done everything in my power not to get pregnant because it would be traumatic to have so many people misgendering me throughout a biological process that would already continuously challenge my manhood in addition to being difficult in all of the same ways that it’s difficult for cis women. That said, biological processes are not always in alignment with our gender, so yes, a man can get pregnant, causing him many unique challenges.
