Working in the industry, I’ve found a lot of different perspectives on attraction, specifically how it’s been shaped for so many people. Peeking behind the curtain is scary, especially given how trans-femme attraction is shaped for so many men. A lot of it comes from porn because, for the longest time during our existence in the American zeitgeist, that’s been one of the few places we’ve had the freedom to express ourselves sexually. Porn has been one of the only places we can acknowledge and explore what desire looks like for us.

Much like mainstream entertainment shapes our desire, so does porn. Unfortunately for as long as both of these realms have existed, some of the worst forms of expression for trans individuals have been seen.
